PowerStick Brings Back An Iconic Fan-Favorite: The PowerTrip Mobile Charger

Years after the popular charger was discontinued, it’s making a comeback—and promises to be even better than the original.

When a product is a crowd pleaser, it always finds a way to remain relevant to its fans. PowerStick, the industry’s leading designer and manufacturer of personal technology products, proudly announces the return of one of its most popular mobile chargers: PowerTrip.
The original, introduced in 2011, made tech industry headlines when it won the Design and Engineering Showcase Award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. One of PowerStick’s first products, PowerTrip was an immediate smash sensation with users.
Among those who owned the original was Larry Cohen, enterprise group president at HALO, who says, “I loved that it always held its charge for months and months (even past a year). A user should never have to worry about the charger being drained before it is even used. The fact that the charger was designed and made in Canada was also an important distinction, especially with heightened sensitivity towards products made overseas.” The device’s trio of self-charging options was another plus for Cohen: a built-in AC adapter, USB connector and a solar panel for emergency trickle charging, too.
While the original PowerTrip had its share of devotees, the market at the time was flooded with untested, inexpensive made-in-China chargers.
“We just couldn’t be competitive with PowerTrip back then,” says PowerStick CEO Nigel Harris. “Now the industry has matured, and safety testing, which can be expensive, is the requirement. Also, many buyers now are looking to purchase products made in North America, and the option of solar power appeals to those who have an appreciation for off-the-grid technologies. For all these reasons and more, now is the time to refresh and reintroduce this popular favorite.”
Jim Childers, president at BrandVia, powered by HALO, says the original PowerTrip was his go-to charger then and he’s still using it today. “The battery charge in the PowerTrip allows me to charge several smart phones before it needs to be recharged. The imprint area is amazing, and the quality of the imprint is second to none,” he says. “I can’t wait to see the upgraded version.”
The new PowerTrip Classic, which is available now, boasts 6,400 mAh of power with many of the same features as the original including the trio of charging options, superior battery retention, ability to charge two devices at once and a large branding area. New is an LCD display that indicates the available battery reserve and an auto-shut off feature that stores power so it’s ready when needed (today or months from now). It also comes standard with an optional USB C to USB A cable, and is packaged in a recycled PET felt travel case with room for a cable and other small accessories. Like all PowerStick chargers, it has a lifetime warranty, is made in Canada and a tree is planted through One Tree Planted or every order placed.
